The Nordic

Potential

The main benefit of the Nordic markets is that they are concentrated, and have a significant asset pool in a close geographical reach, yet with very different market characteristics that require local knowledge to succeed.

The investors are everything from sophisticated tier 1 Institutions having relevant internal resources to smaller institutions with organisational limitations. The characteristics among the Nordic countries differ, Sweden with an equity tilt and Denmark with a more fixed income bias. Finland has around 20 tier 1 institutions, and the “petroleum” fund heavily influences Norway. Sweden alone is the 8th biggest fund market in the world, and Norway has the largest sovereign wealth fund. All countries have well-performing pension systems and stable welfare structures.
